University of Arkansas Selects NuPark For Integrated Parking Enforcement and Management

Fayetteville, AR — May 10, 2017

University of ArkansasNuPark, the leading provider of smart parking management solutions, announced today that it has been awarded a contract by the University of Arkansas to provide an integrated enforcement and parking management system. Using the platform’s unique license plate recognition (LPR) technology, the University’s Transit and Parking Department will now be able to not only offer virtual permits and e-citations for parking enforcement but also more efficiently patrol campus parking lots and provide more options and information for their customers.

Boasting an enrollment of more than 27,000 total students (undergraduate and graduate), the University of Arkansas offers more than 210 top-tier academic programs. The university currently uses physical permits, but it will transition to virtual permits and e-citations upon adopting NuPark’s open, cloud-based, parking management platform. NuPark will provide two LPR-equipped vehicles and will install fixed LPR cameras that will convert the university’s gated  garage to a gateless system and make all three garages self-enforcing.

“We needed a solution for our campus that would address our parking challenges and provide more data to assist us in operating the system more efficiently,” said Gary Smith, University of Arkansas’ Director of Transit and Parking. “NuPark has created a customized solution that not only has ability to integrate with our new Parkeon meters but also electronically monitor vehicle license plate tag information to address our specific parking needs.”

Jim Leida, Vice President of Sales for NuPark, comments that NuPark’s system will improve many aspects of the university’s parking challenges. “The data collected from the LPR will provide reports that, when applied, will improve enforcement efficiency.” Additionally, NuPark’s hosting platform utilizes Azure, a reliable platform. “By employing Azure, IT responsibilities will be able to be freed up and allocated to other applications.”

Installation for the project will commence this summer.
